Almost 40 evacuated after gas leak in Shawlands
Around 40 people are still waiting to return home following a gas leak at a house on the south side of Glasgow. 999 services were called at Pollokshaws Road at 3.55pm and evacuated surrounding homes - some people have spent the night in a rest centre.
Scottish Gas Networks says it's working on the issue. A spokesman said:
Our teams responded to the leak on Monday 11 December afternoon in our capacity as Scotland’s gas emergency service.
Approximately 40 residents in nearby properties have been evacuated as a precaution by the emergency services.
We’re working as quickly and safely as possible however, it’s too early to say at this stage how long repairs will take to complete.
Surounding roads are open.
