A house fire in West Dunbartonshire in which a woman was critically injured is being treated as wilful fire-raising, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Redburn, Alexandria, at about 12.30am on Tuesday.

A 44-year-old woman was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Renfrewshire, in a critical condition.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Following a joint investigation between police and fire services, the incident is now being treated as wilful.'
