A petition set up by the uncle of murdered Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail - has been removed.

It had been signed more than 9000 times, calling on the Scottish Government to change the law so dangerous teens can be sentenced as adults.

Six year old Alesha was abducted, raped and murdered by 16 year old Aaron Campbell on the Isle of Bute last July.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 27 years behind bars last week following a 9 day trial at the High Court in Glasgow back in February.

Campbell told a psychologist how he was “satisfied” with the murder of and he’d fantasised about rape and violence for a year.

CJ MacPhail has started another petiton on a different site..

38 degrees who hosted the first petition say it was removed because it broke their terms and conditions.
