Alcohol ban on trains between Glasgow Central and Ayr

The ban is in place between 10am and 2pm on Monday 24th July.

An alcohol ban has been put in place on trains travelling between Glasgow Central and Ayr.

It comes as more hot and sunny weather is forecast.

The British Transport Police tweeted to say it would be in force between 10am and 2pm on Monday 24th of July.

The ban follows carnage on Troon beach last week when around 6,000 revellers flocked to the shore in the sunshine.

An event on Facebook was set up to organise the meet up but chaos quickly broke out.

The police seized hundreds of bottles of alcohol and 10 people were arrested in connection with anti-social behaviour.
