Luxury cars destroyed in midnight fire attack in Airdrie

Police are hunting four suspects after the incident late on Monday

Luxury cars have been burnt out in Airdrie in a late-night attack as police launch a hunt for four mystery men seen in the area at the time.

A silver Mercedes ML250, a black Range Rover and a white Citroen Berlingo were destroyed in the incident in Newbattle Avenue, Calderbank around 11.45pm on Monday, 14 March and it is being treated as wilful fire-raising.

Fire crews put out the blazing cars and were no reports of any injuries.

Suspect description

Detectives are appealing for help to trace four men who were seen in the area at the time of the fire, along with a dark coloured car.

Three of the men are described as being of slim build.

The fourth man is described as being tall and of heavy build. All four were wearing dark clothing.

Police appeal

Detective Constable William Murray, of Coatbridge CID, said: "Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this reckless act.

"We are treating the fire as deliberate and are asking anyone with any information to get in touch.

"Although this took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask if you noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to get in contact with police.

"I would also appeal to anyone who has possible dashcam or CCTV footage that may be able to assist us with our enquiries."
