‘Acetone spillage’ sparks evacuation in Finnieston

A Glasgow pub had to be evacuated earlier following reports of a ‘chemical spill’ in the area.

Emergency services were called to an incident in Argyle Street at around 11.35am after members of the public reported a strong smell of ‘chemicals’.

Lebowskis bar in Finnieston was ordered to evacuate while fire crews investigated and neighbouring properties were asked to keep their doors and windows closed.

A police spokesperson told Clyde News: “We were called to reports of a smell in the area at around 11.35am. It’s understood there was an acetone spillage at a nearby nail bar.

“No one was injured.”
