A man who died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall has been named by police.

A man who died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall has been named by police.

Brian Dewhirst, 32, was driving the Vauxhall Astra when the accident happened on the A759 near the village of Dundonald, South Ayrshire, at around 5.40pm on July 8.

His passengers, two men aged 24 and 25, were seriously injured and were taken to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: The man who died can now be named as Brian Dewhirst, 32. Relatives are aware. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
