How to see the giant of the skies fly into Glasgow this weekend
The Emirates A380 returns to Glasgow Airport on Sunday
Aviation enthusiasts hoping to watch the giant A380 double decker plane return to Glasgow Airport on Sunday are being tempted with an offer of free car parking, and an appeal to walk to their viewing spot.
The iconic ‘super jumbo’ is making its first visit since September 2019 as Emirates increases capacity on its route to Dubai for the summer.
The plane is scheduled to touch down at 12.45 and take off again at 14.35.
Where to watch
Bosses at Glasgow Airport are sharing details of the places around the perimeter of the airfield where plane spotters will be allowed to gather and watch,
In a bid to discourage people from blocking up local roads – and keeping access clear for the emergency services, spectators are being offered six hours free parking in the Long Stay car park on Arran Avenue from 11am onwards.
Parking restrictions
There will be NO waiting or parking permitted on any of the airfield’s perimeter roads – Barnsford Road, Abbotsinch Road and Walkinshaw Road.
Traffic enforcement will be in place with any vehicles causing an obstruction, or parked within 3m of the perimeter fence, being removed.
Photographers will not be allowed to rest ladders against the fence to get a better view and drones are banned within 5km of any UK airfield.
