A murder inquiry has been launched after a man was found dead at a city flat.
45 year old Craig Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called to a property in Jedworth Road in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow at around 5.55pm on Thursday.
The property has been cordoned off while police carry out investigations.
Officers urged anyone with information to contact them including anyone who may have CCTV or any other footage they think could be relevant to the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Miller, of the Major Investigation Team, said: "A murder inquiry has now been launched to identify the person or people responsible for the death of Mr Shaw.
"Officers are carrying out door to door enquiries in the Jedworth Road area, and the property has been cordoned off while crime scene officers undertake meticulous examinations. These officers will remain in the local area should the public have any concerns.
"I would ask them to support our ongoing investigation by getting in touch if they have any information at all that could assist us.
"Enquiries so far confirm Mr Shaw was well known locally, and my team and I are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the Jedworth Road area around 8am on Wednesday, 21 April, and 6pm on Thursday, 22 April.
"If anyone remembers seeing or speaking to Mr Shaw, please contact us.
"I would also appeal to anyone who may have CCTV, or any other footage they think could be relevant, to please make us aware.
"Although our investigation is in the very early stages, I believe the answer to why Mr Shaw was murdered lies within the local community.''
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2750 of Thursday April 22 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
