A Darvel mum's warning over kids playing "execution" games
Nikki Mackie was left horrified by the injuries her 8 year-old son received.
A Darvel woman is issuing a warning to other parents after her eight year-old son was left injured by a group of kids pretending to execute him.
Nikki Mackie's son came home after playing outside with cuts and bruises on his neck and explained what happened.
Nikki said, "I have since found out they have been playing execution games. They are telling different children to go down on their knees, put their hands behind their backs etc. The details are quite graphic.
"They're playing Nerf war games as well but with 'strangle holds' so putting their arms round their necks.
"I don't know what games they're playing on the xbox or PS4 but they're not separating real life from games. They are acting them out and I have huge concerns about that.
"There's going to be a child who ends up seriously hurt. I am really worried for my own kids' safety."
Nikki since contacted her son's school to make them aware of the issue and staff there have asked the police to do a talk on "safe play" during assembly.
The 28 year-old also took to a community page on Facebook with her concerns.
One comment read, "We all played games with older age limits when we were wee but in moderation and we also knew the difference between console games & real life. I hope the police can make a difference to the kids doing it."
