A 28 year old man, arrested in connection with the death at Helensburgh Pier, has been charged.

The 25 year old has been named locally as Charmaine O'Donnell.

A 28 year old man, arrested in connection with the death of a young women at Helensburgh Pier on Friday evening, has been charged.

The 25 year old, who has been named locally as Charmaine O'Donnell, couldn't be saved after she was pulled from the water in the West Coast town Friday evening.

Emergency services were alerted at around 5.15pm, and investigations continue into the circumstances of the incident in the town in Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

Images from the scene show police tape sealing off part of the pier, and white-suited forensic officers analysing the area.

Police said that a 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.
