A plan has been submitted with city council planners for a £95million office building to be built in the area.

The proposal has been submitted by property developers Osborne and Co. who say the building could bring around 4,000 jobs in the construction industry to the city.

The site on Argyle Street was originally planned to be the location for a six-star hotel by Dubai-based company Jumeirah.

Work will not be able to start though until permission is granted to demolish the B-listed building that is currently there - which Osborne and Co. claim is 'beyond repair.'

Planners have described talks with council officials as 'promising.'
