9 years behind bars for man who raped 14 year old girl in Barrhead

The 20 year old Romanian national followed the girl to a car park behind Iceland near Arthurlie Street on the 7th of August last year.

He threatened her with a piece of glass, grabbed her by the hair and forced her off her bike before making her crawl in bushes where he held her down and raped her.

He was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow last month.

The Romanian national, who only arrived in Scotland on July 19 last year, was jailed for nine years for the "disgusting and degrading" attack at the High Court in Glasgow.

Labourer Ciornei, who left school to become a shepherd, has also been put on the sex offenders register
