Do you agree?

Published 19th Oct 2016

Ok, we know we are probably a little biased but to celebrate Clyde 1 LIVE 2016, we have pulled together the 9 reasons we think Glasgow is the greatest gig city!

Let us know if you agree!

1. Venues Loads of amazing venues across the city like the 02 Academy, Barrowlands, King Tut’s (Oasis were discovered there!) and of course the jewel in the crown, The SSE Hydro.

2. Hipster central The SSE Hydro is located next to Finnieston, earlier this year voted the hippest place to live in the UK, in The Times ‘20 hippest places to live in Britain.’

3. The best crowds Glasgow is famous for having the best gig crowds. See what Noel Gallagher had to say about it on Instagram (Please excuse his colourful language).

4. Glaswegians know good music Just look at all the great bands that have come from this great city, Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fan Club, Travis and Biffy Clyro to name but a few!

5. Coolest way to travel Get around Glasgow on our underground, the smallest and the best! ‘The clockwork orange.’

6. The people We are very friendly and love a bit of banter, why else would the city use the phrase ‘People Make Glasgow’ and of course we brought you Billy Connolly too!

7. Even our buskers are brilliant! Check out this guy Ben Monteith, he won ‘Best Busker’ at the Radio Clyde Awards 2016.

8. Best pubs & bars to go to pre & post gig The 13th Note, Lebowski’s, Maggie May’s and Nice ‘n’ Sleazy to name just a few! Many artists have been spotted in these establishments in their time too!

9. Biggest bands Since the SSE Hydro has opened the world’s biggest bands now all stop off in Glasgow!

So why not join us in the greatest gig city for one of the biggest gigs of the year , Clyde 1 LIVE 2016, in partnership with The HUB EK.
