83 year-old cyclist critical after Chryston smash

A cyclist is in critical condition in hospital after crashing with a car on Cumbernauld Road near Chryston this morning.

A cyclist is in critical condition in hospital after crashing with a car on Cumbernauld Road near Chryston this morning.

The 83-year-old is being treated for a serious head injury after the smash on the slip road between the A752 and A80 at around 8am.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations took place.

The 31 year-old driver on the grey Citroen C1 was uninjured.

Sergeant Craig McDonald, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said:

“Whilst one or two motorists stopped to assist following the crash, we are still keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision take place.

“If you have any information that will assist officers with their investigation, then please contact the road policing unit in Motherwell via 101 quoting reference number 0740 of the 10 August 2017.”
