82-Year-Old Woman Dies In Hospital After Being Hit By Taxi
An elderly woman has died after being hit by a taxi as she crossed a busy road - the latest in a number of deaths on Scotland's roads in recent days.
The 82-year-old was struck in the Springburn area of Glasgow at about 7.30pm on Wednesday.
She was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with multiple serious injuries, but later died.
Police Scotland said the male driver of the white Skoda Octavia taxi was not injured but was very upset and shaken as a result of the incident.
A report on the crash, which happened on Springburn Road at Fountainwell Road, will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Appealing for witnesses, Constable Stuart Bell said: Where the crash occurred is an extremely busy road being one of the main routes into the north of the city.
I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact officers at the Greater Glasgow road policing department via 101.''
