82-year-old man dies in Glasgow fire

An 82-year-old man has died in a fire at a home in Glasgow.

Three fire crews were called to the scene at Huntingtower Road in Ballieston at 5.26pm on Saturday.

Police Scotland is carrying out a joint investigation into the fatal blaze with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but said it is not thought to be suspicious.

The force said in a statement: "Police Scotland, along with other emergencies services, attended at Huntingtower Road, Ballieston, at 5.40pm on Saturday, 25 April.

"An 82-year-old man died. A joint investigation will be carried out with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.''

A fire service spokeswoman said crews remained on site on Sunday to tackle hotspots.
