7-year-old boy knocked down in Airdrie
A seven-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in North Lanarkshire.
Police were called to Gartleahill, Airdrie, at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
The boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children for treatment.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a crash involving a car and a child on Gartleahill, Airdrie, around 5.30pm on Tuesday.
"A seven-year-old boy has been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children by ambulance.
"The road was closed for several hours while inquiries were carried out.''
