3 arrested after massive £5.5m drugs raid in Glasgow

The serious crime squad has smashed a major drugs operation after seizing £5.5million worth of cocaine, heroin and other substances in a raid in Glasgow.

They swooped on a property in Curzon Street yesterday. The haul included more than 90kgs of cocaine, 23kgs of heroin, 19kgs of MDMA and around 5,800 diazepam and ecstasy tablets.

They also found a quantity of cash and ammunition and a further 20kgs of cocaine were found in a vehicle.

Two men, aged 45 and 30, and a woman, aged 31, have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott said: “This very significant recovery sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drugs in our communities.

“We are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated on the streets of Scotland and addressing the concerns of local people.

“This action underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
