Two men have been arrested and charged following a drugs recovery worth over £500,000 in Motherwell.

Around 6.30pm on Thursday, 28 August officers raided a property in Merry Street where a major cannabis cultivation was discovered.

Officers recovered 874 plants with an estimated street value of £522,000.

A 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection. They are expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Scott Robertson said: “This significant recovery highlights our commitment to disrupting drug-related crime in our communities. It also reinforces our ongoing commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.
