The redevelopment of Glasgow’s old Meat Market will take a step forward today, as councillors are updated on the project’s progress.

The Dennistoun site’s being redeveloped to include affordable housing, a park and space for businesses.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly’s the chair of the committee taking the proposals forward.

He told Clyde 1: "This is a project that has long been an ambition of the council, and I was delighted to be able to help guide it through the Contracts and Property committee initially and now see it through the Neighbourhoods Committee.

"The development of this site will essentially extend the city centre from High Street and Collegelands out to Dennistoun, with the creation of a linear park, affordable housing, retail and the renovation of the historic sheds."

There is also meant be a street market area and it'll have units for start up businesses too.

Ruairi added: "This is another example of the City Government putting investment into areas of historic abandonment and the transformation of these areas into modern, connected and liveable communities.”
