37 Arrests After Celtic Rangers Match

Detectives say 37 people have been arrested in connection with the Celtic v Rangers match at the weekend.

After a huge police operation in Glasgow for the first Old Firm game in nearly 3 years there'll be 23 people heading for the Sheriff Court today. In all, there were 37 arrests yesterday.

11 have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and 3 were issued with fixed penalty notices. Police commanders have praised the behaviour of the vast majorty of the 50,000 crowd at Hampden.

Event Commander – Chief Superintendent Andy Bates, said after the game:

“As usual the vast majority of the 50,000 fans were here to enjoy the game and support their respective team; they deserve credit for their excellent behaviour. However, again, it is the minority of fans who spoiled the occasion by for example setting off flares and singing sectarian songs."
