The Kelvin Hall has officially re-opened after its £35 million refurbishment.

The former sports venue and home of the transport museum now holds over 1.5 million pieces from Glasgow's civic collection, the National Library of Scotland's Moving Image Archive

By 2020 it will also become the new home of Glasgow University's Hunterian Museum.

The project is a collaboration between Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Life, the University of Glasgow and the National Library of Scotland. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon officially re-opened the building which previously housed a sports arena and Glasgow's Transport Museum.

The Kelvin Hall was opened as an exhibition centre in 1927 and was used for musical performances before becoming a sports arena and hosted major sports events including the 1990 European Indoor Athletics Championships.
