£3.5m offshore training facility for Clydebank
The first of its kind facility in the central belt will create around 30 jobs in Clydebank.
Marine and offshore specialists, The Clyde Group, say work has begun on a new £3.5 million training centre.
It will be the first of its kind in Central and Southern Scotland, which will create around 30 jobs in Clydebank.
Clyde Training Solutions is the latest in the range of services offered by The Clyde Group, building upon existing training courses provided by Clyde Marine Training.
Since 2005, as part of its Short Courses division, it has been providing industry recognised and certified training courses for marine personnel.
The jobs created will range from training assistants, customer care to quality control.
Clyde Training Solutions will also aim to locally source many of the elements for running the centre such as the catering through to gas supplies.
Due to open in the autumn of this year, the centre hopes to welcome over 5,000 delegates a year, with this will come many economic benefits as students visit and stay in and around Clydebank.
The unique facility will provide mandatory and safety training courses to the marine and offshore oil and gas industries.
The centre will house multiple classrooms, training pool, HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training module), and a full fire training ground complete with training stack and helideck to meet the highest level of industry standards.
