Campaigners fighting to save the Vale of Leven will hold a 24 hour vigil outside the hospital from this morning.

It's in protest to changes to services, including cut backs in the maternity and hematology departments.

The health board have banned the demonstration from taking place inside the grounds but campaigner Ian Miller says that will not stop them:

A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "We are unable to grant permission for a demonstration to take place, or for a gazebo to be set up, on the grounds of the Vale of Leven hospital.

"As with all planned gatherings, the vigil has to take place outside hospital grounds to allow the hospital to function, and patients to attend, without disruption.

"We are happy to work with the group to identify a more suitable suit area at the entrance to the hospital grounds."
