Scottish & Southern electricity networks (SSEN) say thousands of Scottish homes have been left without power in the wake of Storm Arwen.

The North and North East has been hardest hit thus far, but severe gales reaching between 80-90 miles per hour are moving south.

The vast majority of the outages have been reported in Moray and Aberdeenshire, but numbers are rising in Angus.

The weather has also caused disruption to travel - many bus operators have cancelled services until morning.

Meanwhile Scotrail are dealing with various instances of fallen trees.

One service even struck a trampoline.

A red weather warning for wind covering a substantial portion of Scotland's east coast is in place until 2am on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile the amber warning for wind, which covers area further into the west of the nation will stand until 9am.
