Vandals have caused £20,000 of damage at a railway yard in Hamilton.

The incident took place between 4pm on Wednesday November 9 and 1.30am the following day at a maintenance yard in Clydesdale Street in the South Lanarkshire town.

Damage was caused to railway engineering equipment, including two mobile elevated work platforms, fire extinguishers and cabinets.

Detective Constable Kevin Foulis said: "I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary in the Clydesdale Street area in the early hours of November 9.

"A considerable amount of damage was caused to railway equipment, and acts of vandalism like this will not be tolerated.
