RBS bosses have announced a reprieve for 10 bank branches that were due to close.

The bank said it had listened to the concerns of customers'' on the issue, and would now keep the branches open until the end of the year.

State-owned RBS had planned to shut 62 of its branches in Scotland, but has now said that its banks in Biggar, Beauly, Castlebay/Barra, Comrie, Douglas, Gretna, Inveraray, Melrose, Kyle and Tongue would stay open until the end of 2018, with an independent review carried out into whether they are still viable.

It made the announcement after having talks with SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford on the issue.
