02 set to be demolished after Sauchiehall Street blaze
A popular music venue and neighbouring pub could be demolished after they were "substantially'' damaged in the Glasgow School of Art fire last year.
The flames spread from the Mackintosh building to the O2 ABC, which was hosting a regular club night at the time, and adjoining Campus Bar in Sauchiehall Street.
Both were evacuated as the blaze broke out on June 15, 2018.
Plans lodged with Glasgow City Council state an intention to demolish the "substantially fire-damaged building in its entirety''.
The building warrant application was submitted on Thursday January 31 and is pending consideration.
Initially constructed in 1875, the building was renovated in the late 1920s before opening as the ABC cinema in November 1929.
The name was kept when it was taken over and converted to a nightclub and music venue in the mid-2000s.
Past performers at the 02 ABC include Ed Sheeran, Adele and Sam Smith.
Events that were scheduled to be held at the venue after the fire have been located to other venues across the city including the O2 Academy.
