Scotland's first commercial radio station celebrated half a century on the airwaves. Clyde 1 broadcasted for the very first time at 10.30pm on the 31st of December (Hogmanay!) 1973.
Clyde 1 presenter George Bowie, took to the stage in front of the 12,500 strong audience to perform one his legendary GBX sets. He was joined on stage by Bowie@Breakfast co-presenter Cassi and fellow Clyde 1 presenter Callum Gallacher who also treated the OVO Hydro crowd to a DJ set.
As birthday parties go it was an epic one as Clyde 1 celebrated its first 50 years in some style with a sold out gig, Clyde 1 Live, at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
Clyde 1 favourites Texas were joined by Tom Walker, Amy Macdonald, Emeli Sande and Callum Beattie... and surprised guest, Nathan Evans performing his latest huge hit – Highland Girl! If you couldn’t make it in person don’t worry – you can hear the whole gig again on Clyde 1 listen again, just click Sunday 2nd June, 4pm.
Bowie@Breakfast presenters George and Cassi said: ‘What a night and what a party! Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Clyde 1’s first 50 years - let’s all raise a glass to the next 50!’
