We've all been there, two months ago when the lockdown started, we thought we'd take advantage of our daily allowance of exercise and go for daily walks. But as time has gone on and the weather has been variable, many of us have been doing less exercise, whether inside, or out.

Make sure you don't miss our Throwback Weekend!

Never fear though, not only is working out a physical battle, it's a mental one too, so here are some top tips for ensuring you achieve your goals and stay motivated, especially over our Clyde 1 Motivational Throwback Weekend!

Know what your goals are

Figure out what you want to achieve in any given time period and stick to it. Make sure your goals are realistic and attainable, otherwise you'll feel demoralised when you don't hit them.

If it helps, make short-term goals to begin with, like running 5k, planning a weekly workout, or lifting a certain weight. Be honest with yourself and get ready to work!

Make specific plans

Dedicate time each week to make your goals a reality. If you know you don't hold yourself accountable for missed gym sessions or at-home runs, join an online class to give you a specific plan and time slot to stick to.

If life gets in the way and you miss a workout, don't beat yourself up, just move on and figure out when you're next going to reach your goal.

Be prepared

Although you might not be getting up at the crack of dawn to go to the gym, it's still a good idea to be prepared for your workout at home.

Whether you want to start the day with a healthy smoothie, or you get your gym gear ready the night before, make sure you're prepared. No excuses!

Have fun!

Most of all, achieving your goals should be enjoyable. You're making a change for your health and all those happy hormones will feel great, so don't get bogged down in the grit of it all.

Join an online class you know you'll love, start a team sport and you could even recruit a friend to both chat to and to be a little healthy competition. All online for the moment of course, but think about keeping it up once the lockdown is lifted and you might have a new found hobby.
