After a very dramatic series 8...

Author: Alex RossPublished 12th Sep 2024

After season eight of hit Netflix show Selling Sunset dropped in early-September with 11 new episodes and a brand new cast member, fans binged the entire series in a short space of time, lapping up the drama from the agents at The Oppenheim Group.

With the show detailing some serious feuds between the cast, fans are now wondering if the hit reality series will be renewed for a ninth series.

Will there be another series of Selling Sunset?

Netflix are yet to officially confirm if Selling Sunset has been renewed for a ninth series, but with the drama in series eight, we'd be shocked if not!

When did series 8 come out?

On Tuesday 13th August, Netflix released a trailer for series eight, confirming the show would return on Friday 6th September 2024!

The post read: 'the agents are back! and the stakes are higher than a penthouse view. SELLING SUNSET: SEASON 8 premieres September 6'. (sic)

1\1 brand new episodes dropped on Friday 6th September 2024.

When was series 8 filmed?

It's understood filming for series eight took place at the end of 2023 and in early 2024.

Will there be a series 8 reunion show?

With the way series eight ended, fans are gagging for a reunion show, but at the moment, nothing has been confirmed!

Series five and series seven were followed by reunion shows, but series one, two, three, four and six were not, so it's a possibility fans won't see the agents reunite under the watchful eye of Tan France this time round.

What is Selling Sunset?

In case you've never heard of it, Selling Sunset, created by Adam DiVello, is basically a mixture of reality shows The Hills and Million Dollar Listing and it's been dubbed by many as the 'best reality TV show of the last decade'.

Selling Sunset is a reality show which follows the lives of employers at The Oppenheim Group, a high end real estate broker in Beverley Hills, with founder Jason and his elite team of real estate agents.

As well as $75 million listings, dreamy sunsets and lavish parties, the show follows the dramatic lifestyles of stars Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald, Davina Potratz, Maya Vander, Heather Rae El Moussa, Amanza Smith, Vanessa Villela, Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young.

When did series 7 of Selling Sunset come out?

Series seven landed on Netflix on 3rd November 2023.

The series seven reunion show then arrived on Thursday 16th November 2023.

When did series 6 of Selling Sunset come out?

Despite many thinking we'd get the sixth series of Selling Sunset in 2022, cast member Heather Rae El Moussa revealed in December of that year the hugely-anticipated series would land in 2023.

Season six of Selling Sunset was then added to Netflix on 19th May 2023.

How can I watch Selling Sunset?

Selling Sunset is an exclusive show to Netflix, with season one-eight now available to watch on the streaming service right now.

Series eight landed on Friday 6th September.

Selling Sunset cast:

Two brand news real estate agents Nicole Young and Bre Tiesi were added to the cast for seasons six and seven, this followed the news in August 2022 that Christine Quinn had quit Selling Sunset. Alanna Gold joined the cast for series eight.

Fans will be gutted to hear that Heather Rae El Moussa didn't return for series eight.

See the full cast below:

Mary Fitzgerald

Mary Fitzgerald has been a popular cast member since season one arrived, with the 40-year-old marrying her French toyboy Romain Bonnet in season 2 in a client's property she'd actually previously listed!

Mary gets dubbed as 'teacher's pet' by her Selling Sunset co-stars, with The Oppenheim Group's founder Jason Oppenheim often giving her the 'best listings' and putting her in charge whilst he's away.

Jason Oppenheim

Jason Oppenheim is the President and founder of real estate brokerage The Oppenheim Group, and is consistently ranked as a top agent in the country.

Alongside his twin brother Brett, Jason is is also a trained lawyer and he's worth an estimated $50 million!

Oh, and he's also the ex-boyfriend of Mary Fitzgerald, but don't worry, the pair have remained the best of friends!

In July 2021, Jason confirmed he was dating co-star Chrishell Stause, however, the pair announced their split in December 2021.

Brett Oppenheim

Brett Oppenheim is the Vice-President of The Oppenheim Group and manages the team alongside his twin brother Jason.

However, after season 3 aired, reports suggested Brett had left the group to set up his own brokerage! Despite this, he still features on the show!

Chrishell Stause

Chrishell Stause joined the show at the beginning of season 1 and quickly become a fan favourite.

Chrishell's shock divorce to American actor Justin Hartley played out in season 3, despite very limited mentions of him throughout the rest of the show.

After Chrishell announced she'd split from new boyfriend, Dancing With The Stars pro Keo Motsepe, at the end of February, fans are hoping the drama will play out in series four.

It was also revealed in July 2021 that Chrishell was dating her boss and co-star, Jason Oppenheim. However, the pair split in December 2021.

Emma Hernan

Model and social media star Emma Hernan joined the cast in series 4.

She has her own own frozen food company, called Emma Leigh & Co and she's also good friends with Selling Sunset star Amanza Smith.

Emma has since become a huge character on the show, creating a strong bond with co-star Chrishell.

Chelsea Lazkani

Real estate agent Chelsea Lazkani joined the cast of Selling Sunset for series 5.

Chelsea, who is British, is married to her husband Jeff Lazkani, and the pair share two children together. However, in 2024, the paired filed for a divorce, with scenes set to play out in series 8.

Amanza Smith

Amanza joined the show in season 2, however it didn't take her long to fit in after being friends with both Jason and Brett Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald for a number of years.

The former model is a mum-of-two and worked as a stager before joining to the brokerage as a real estate agent.

Nicole Young

The Oppenheim Group employee Nicole Young joined the cast in series 6. Nicole was originally due to appear from series 1, but she pulled out of the show at the last minute. However, she's now revealed she's ready to live her life in front of the camera, and she certainly brought the drama.

Bre Tiesi

Model Bre joined the cast for series 6, admitting she'd only recently become a real estate agent. Her son, whom she shares with Nick Cannon, also appears on the show.

Alanna Gold

Series eight sees the arrival of brand new agent and cast member Alanna Gold. Alanna, who is also a model, appears to take her fellow agents to a Country town she owns in the trailer, telling them: "I own a little Western town in the desert."

Heather Rae El Moussa

Before appearing on Selling Sunset, Heather actually worked as an actress and a model in America. After she started dating Tarek El Moussa in season 1, Heather announced her engagement in July 2020, before going on to marry him in October 2021.

Heather then welcomed a baby boy in February 2023.

Following the seventh series, Heather announced in April 2024 that she wouldn't be returning for series eight, revealing she's now got her own show with her husband Tarek.

Maya Vander

Maya Vander splits her time between Los Angeles and Miami, working for The Oppenheim Group when she's in Beverly Hills.

In season 2 Maya welcomed her first child into the world, a baby boy called Aiden after suffering two tragic miscarriages. She then welcomed a baby girl into the world in May 2021, just days after season 2 aired on Netflix.

Maya confirmed in June 2022 that she will no longer appear on further series of Selling Sunset, but she did appear via FaceTime in series 6.

Davina Potratz

Davina was a more quieter member of the cast and simply got on with her business in season 1 and 2... That was until she made a comment about Romain's engagement ring choice, leading to her being axed from the guest list by the French man.

At the end of season 2, Davina was attempting to list a mansion owned by billionaire Adnan Sen for $80 million, something which was still ongoing in season 3. Although Davina occasionally pops up on the show, she's no longer a main cast member.

Christine Quinn

Christine Quinn is one of the most talked-about cast members of Selling Sunset, with her lavish parties and no-nonsense personality.

In season 2 of Selling Sunset, Christine announced her engagement to retired businessman Christian Richard, with the pair throwing a very eccentric engagement party.

Season 3 was also massive for Christine, with her lavish wedding being filmed for the show, as she walks down the alter in a stand-out BLACK dress.

In February 2021, Christine announced she was pregnant with her first child, with the gender reveal reportedly due to play out in season 4. Christine welcomed her baby boy in May.

As Christine has now left The Oppenheim Group, she will not appear in future series.

Romain Bonnet

He's the French model that stole the heart of Mary Fitzgerald (and us), with the pair tying the knot in season 2. Viewers got to see the stubborn side of Romain after his argument with Davina, which led to him not backing down over the guest list plans.

Romain also now works for The Oppenheim Group as a trusted contractor, with him doing construction work for the company's brand new office.

Vanessa Villela

Former actress Vanessa Villela has joined the cast of Selling Sunset for series 4, after making her way into the real estate industry.

Although she was born in Mexico, Vanessa became an American citizen in 2017 and she's been very vocal about her excitement at joining the show.

She didn't appear in series 6 or 7.

When did Selling Sunset series 5 come out?

Netflix bosses and the Selling Sunset cast confirmed in mid-March that fans will be able to binge series five from 8am on Friday 22nd April 2022.

When did Selling Sunset series 4 come out?

In January 2021, Mary Fitzgerald got fans very excited about season 4, hinting it could arrive just six months later!

Speaking to the Radio Times, Mary said: “I think everybody can expect to see a season four probably and hopefully in about six months. We film for probably four or five months for each season and then there’s a couple of months for editing and then you guys would probably see it in about six months.”

Despite Mary's comments, Netflix released season four on 24th November 2021.

What is Selling the OC?

After The Oppenheim Group branched out into Orange Country in 2021, opening an office in Newport Beach, it was confirmed in November 2021 that Selling Sunset would be getting a spin-off show called Selling The O.C.

The brand new show, which dropped on Wednesday 24th August 2022, features Jason himself, as well as Alexandra Hall, Austin Victoria and Brandi Marshall.

Following a successful first series, Netflix confirmed Selling the OC had been renewed for two further series, with series two landing in September 2023.

The third series started on Friday 3rd May 2024.

What is Christine Quinn's baby called?

On Thursday 18th February 2021, news emerged that Christine Quinn was expecting her first child with her husband Christian Richard.

Christine gave birth to a baby boy at 4.22pm on Saturday 15th May 2021, weighing 6 lbs., 14 oz.

Speaking about her son, who she decided to call Christian Georges Dumontet, Christine told PEOPLE: "Baby C is more precious that I could have ever imagined. Nine months seems like a lifetime to wait to meet someone. It is the most incredible feeling to know that you have created life.

“My protective mama bear mentality is stronger than ever. My sole job is to protect him, to love him and to raise him.

"Let's just say he was born with good taste. He has a closet filled with designer outfits that I cannot wait to dress him in!"

Is Selling Sunset scripted?

Of course, just like all of the other great reality shows, such as The Hills, Made In Chelsea and The Only Way Is Essex, Selling Sunset is scripted to a certain degree.

The show's creator, Adam DiVello, who also produced popular American reality shows Laguna Beach and The Hills, told Variety, "I can’t tell you how many hours we would sit in an edit bay just working on one scene. I think most reality shows would have turned it out in a day and we’ll spend a week."

And despite Chrishell Stause telling TMZ Selling Sunset isn't scripted but some scenes are 'amped up', her co-star Christine Quinn revealed to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning that some scenes are 'set up'.

Speaking about how she met her now husband, Christine said, "Well actually, that was amped up a little, I'm not going to lie. I actually met him through a girlfriend of mine, but Mary spun this story that he was a client.

"We were dating for three months and then we bought a house together, but television is fun."

Following the release of series eight in September 2024, Chelsea Lazkani appeared on This Morning where she told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley: "It's not scripted at all, do you think I would script this season? I would never script anything like this."

Is Chrishell Stause dating Jason Oppenheim?

Following the shock breakdown of her marriage to American actor Justin Hartley, which played out on series 3 of Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause had found love again, going official with her new boyfriend Keo Motsepe.

Chrishell and Keo met when the reality star took part in the 2020 series of Dancing With The Stars! Although Chrishell was partnered with Gleb Savchenko, she hit it off with fellow pro Keo during her time on the show.

After going public on Instagram, the pair looked seriously loved-up, but at the start of March Chrishell confirmed she'd split from Keo!

HOWEVER, in a shock turn of events in July 2021, Chrishell confirmed she was dating her boss; Jason Oppenheim!

Sharing a number of photos as the cast headed to Italy after wrapping up filming for series four, one snap in particular showed Chrishell and Jason looking rather cosy on a boat, with the caption: 'The JLo effect. 🤷🏻‍♀️'. (sic)

Despite this, the pair announced their split just days before Christmas in 2021, admitting they are still the best of friends.

In May 2023, Chrishell confirmed that she had married her partner, Australian musician G Flip, a year after confirming they were dating.

When did Selling Sunset start?

Although series one dropped in 2019, Selling Sunset gained massive popularity when season two dropped on Netflix on Friday 22nd May 2020, with many users binge-watching the series during lockdown.

Many fans took to Twitter to express their love for the show, one user wrote: ''Oh my gosh. Recently binged the two seasons for selling sunset. I’m actually obsessed! Lol'. (sic)

Another added: 'Selling Sunset is filling the void in my life since The Hills ended', with another adding: 'Selling Sunset” giving me “The Hills” vibes and I’m living for it'. (sic)

When did season 3 of Selling Sunset start?

Just months after season two dropped, the hugely-anticipated season three of Selling Sunset was announced for Friday 7th August 2020.

Selling Sunset facts:

1. The Oppenheim Group actually has 17 agents

Although Mary, Chrishell, Davina, Maya, Heather, Emma, Nicole, Bre, Amanza and Chelsea all feature as real estate agents on the show, there's actually four other agents at the business - these are Peter Cornell, Alice Kwan, Omar Abaza, Alexander Huerta, Romi Jordan Mouillon, Kane Lim, and Minoo Malek.

2. Romain used to be a pastry chef

French model Romain Bonnett, who married Mary Fitzgerald on season 2 of Selling Sunset, actually used to work as a pastry chef!

Back in 2019, he wrote on Instagram: 'Since so many asked me if it was true that I was a pastry chef, here is some of the pasty I used to make. YES IT WAS TRUE !!! 😜😬'. (sic)

3. Selling Sunset is created by the same man who created The Hills

Yes, that's right! The Hills producer Adam DiVello is the creator of Selling Sunset - that guy certainly knows how to make great TV!

4. Jason once had Orlando Bloom's house on his books

The Oppenheim Group's President Jason Oppenheim has worked with some major stars over the years! Not only has he sold houses for the likes of Alex Rodriguez and Lea Black, he was also selling Orlando Bloom's house!

He told us in 2019: "My favourite guy that I worked with is Orlando Bloom. But that's why I'm selling his house right now because he's going to be a dad. So families and marriages are good for real estate."

5. Mary has a son called Austin Babbitt

Selling Sunset fans met Mary Fitzgerald's son during season 2 of the show in 2020, when Austin walked his mum down the aisle for her wedding to Romain.

6. Chrishell was once engaged to Matthew Morrison

Before marrying (and then divorcing) American actor Justin Hartley, Chrishell Stause was once engaged to Glee star Matthew Morrison.

The couple first met way back in 2006, with a proposal coming just months later. However, things didn't work out and the pair called time on their romance in December 2007.

7. Heather is now married with a baby

After announcing her new romance with Tarek El Moussa during season 2 of Selling Sunset, just weeks before season 3 hit Netflix, Heather Young announced Tarek had popped the question to her!

In October 2021, the pair tied the knot at a luxury ceremony surrounded by their friends and family, including Heather's Selling Sunset co-stars, with footage being shown in series 5.

Heather and Tarek then welcomed a baby boy called Tristan in January 2023. Unfortunately for fans, Heather announced she wouldn't be returning to the show after series seven. She's actually now got her own series alongside Tarek, called The Flipping El Moussas.

8. Christine didn't meet her ex-husband by selling him a house

Although season 2 of Selling Sunset seemed to document that Christine Quinn met her now ex-husband Christian Richard whilst selling him a house, it turns out the pair actually met through mutual friends.

During an interview on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, she said: "Well actually, that was amped up a little, I'm not going to lie. I actually met him through a girlfriend of mine, but Mary spun this story that he was a client. We were dating for three months and then we bought a house together, but television is fun."

Christine filed for a divorce from Christian in April 2024.

9. Chrishell wasn't part of The Oppenheim Group before Selling Sunset

She's a valued member of the team now, but Chrishell Stause actually only joined the real estate agency when she was signed to appear on the show.

Selling Sunset creator Adam DiVello said at the time: "She really is a realtor and has a real estate license selling homes when we met her. I think we were lucky to get her, I think she adds something that is very unique to Los Angeles, and we're doing a show about realtors in Los Angeles. The fact that we have one who's an actress and happens to be married to an actor who's on a very successful TV series is a plus."

10. Mary actually sold a house on her wedding day

As viewers witnessed in season 2, Mary Fitzgerald doesn't stop work for anything... Even her own wedding!

Whilst getting her hair and make-up applied on her big day, Mary took time out to show round a buyer of the stunning house she was using for her venue.

She later told People magazine: "I end up selling my wedding venue on my wedding day, which was amazing. I paused the wedding and sold it in the middle of getting ready. Everyone thought I was out of my mind, but I told the seller when he allowed me to book it for the wedding venue that I won't let the wedding planning or doing it there get in the way of selling it!"

11. The Oppenheim Group now have a Newport Beach office and it's got a spin-off show

At the start of January 2021, Jason Oppenheim confirmed the group have now opened a office in Newport Beach.

In a post on Instagram, he said: 'I'm very proud and excited to announce our new Oppenheim Group office in Newport Beach!! After many years of contemplation, my love for Newport Beach and its exciting real estate opportunities have convinced me to go for it! And if you're going to go, go big, so I found a 4,000 sq. ft. former bank and we are renovating it now - it's going to be the coolest office anywhere, with a full bar, living room, dining area, arcade, pool table, gym, showers, kitchen, vault with whiskey/wine, coffee bar, walls of contemporary art, books, and vintage boom boxes, and who knows, maybe even some desks! Give me a few weeks and I'll post the interior photos 😀'.

It was then confirmed in November 2021 that Selling Sunset will be getting a spin-off show for the new office, called Selling The O.C. - this then aired in August 2022, with a number of series to date.

Other spin-off shows including Selling Tampa.

12. Emma Hernan once qualified for the Olympics

In series 5, Emma casually dropped the fact she'd once swam a time that would have qualified her for the Olympics! However, she gave up swimming when she was 16 to focus on modelling.

13. The cast pay for their own hair, makeup and wardrobe

You've probably noticed the Selling Sunset girls always look absolutely flawless, dripped head-to-toe in designer gear, but Netflix don't actually pay for any of this!

14. Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn used to be friends

Despite their now on-going feud, Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn actually used to be friends - this was until producers pitted them against each other.

Christine once said: "They wanted us to clash obviously and at first, we didn't. We got along great. We were friends. She was at my house. We were drinking, having a good time. I was getting to know her and the storylines came into play. We thought that we were good at separating things."

What is Selling Tampa?

Selling Tampa is another Netflix reality show! The show, which has also been created by Adam DiVello, will follow real estate agents at Allure Realty in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The official synopsis for the show says: ‘Along the Florida coast, Allure Realty stands out among the crowd. Owned by military vet Sharelle Rosado, this all Black, all female real estate firm has its eyes set on dominating the Suncoast.

‘These ladies are equally as fun as they are fiercely ambitious, with all of them vying to be on top of the lavish world of luxury waterfront real estate.'

Selling Tampa dropped on Netflix on Wednesday 15th December 2021.

All eight series of Selling Sunset are available on Netflix right now.
