Peter Kay slams 'incredibly misleading' title of documentary about him
The Channel 5 show was called 'In My Own Words: Peter Kay'
If you are a fan of comedian Peter Kay, you most likely tuned in to watch Channel 5's documentary 'In My Own Words: Peter Kay' on Sunday 29th December, expecting to see new interviews with the Car Share star talking about his life.
However, when the show aired, all footage used was actually historic interviews with Peter and new interviews with some of his former colleagues.
Clearly annoyed at the show, Peter has now slammed the title of the documentary, calling it 'incredibly misleading'.
A spokesperson for the 46-year-old posted on Peter's Twitter account, writing, 'Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight but just to let people know that Peter Kay: In His Own Words has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn't feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic.
'The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary, which he hasn't. At all.'
Fans of the comedy actor were quick to respond to the statement, with many revealing they hope to see Peter back in the spotlight soon.
One user wrote, 'I think we were all hoping Peter was involved in this program and we were going to see him back, he has his reasons clearly for being away to be with his lovely family , all we can do is hope things are ok, and he will return when ready, God bless Mr Kay xx'. sic
Another added, 'Misleading of ch 5 I agree but i must say I'm loving watching all your work. Reminding me why your my favourite funny man... ever. Your presence is missed and you've left a gaping hole in the comedy scene. No one else holds a candle to you Mr Kay. Hope to see you bk soon x'. sic

He wrote, 'It’s almost 19yrs since the Phoenix Club first opened its doors. To celebrate that very special anniversary, both series of #PhoenixNights will be shown on the big screen for the 1st time in aid of @CR_UK Tickets on sale now.' sic
Of course, this sent fans wild that Phoenix Nights could be getting a reboot, but Peter's friend and former co-star Paddy McGuiness later said, 'Just a quick one re this Phoenix Nights rumour? Looks like a quote from a long time ago has been dug up and spun out of context. It’s true we all loved making it but there’s no plans for a new one? Well not that I’m aware of? Sorry. #PhoenixNights'. sic
