How to apply for Lingo

Alongside quiz shows such as Pointless and The Chase, ITV/STV series Lingo is one of the most popular around, with bosses recently renewing it for a fifth series with host Adil Ray, as well as a celebrity edition set for 2026.

Before filming for the upcoming series takes place, bosses were on the lookout for contestants for Lingo, so find out all of the details below.

How to apply for Lingo

Unfortunately, applications for the next series of Lingo closed at 23:59 on Wednesday 20th August 2025.

The website stated: 'Lingo is back - and we’re looking for fast-thinking, quick-talking contestants to take on the country’s biggest word game.

'From cracking Puzzlewords to solving Lingos under pressure, it’s your chance to win up to £15,000 – with the potential to return and build your prize pot across multiple shows!

'Do you know your Lingo?

'If you’ve got the smarts, the speed, and a love for wordplay, apply NOW to be part of the next exciting series hosted by Adil Ray.'

Can I apply on my own?

Due to the nature of the game, applicants must apply for Lingo as a team of two, that could be partners, family members, work colleagues, flatmates or friends, all with a mix of abilities and personalities.

When is filming?

Filming is due to take place in Manchester throughout September

What is Lingo?

TV gameshow Lingo first launched here in the UK back in 2021, with four successful series so far. The last series aired between 6th January 2025 and 17th February 2025.

The game, which is similar to the popular phone game Wordle, is played between teams of two, who are tasked with solving mystery words The game show is made up of three different rounds, before the winning team takes part in a final round in order to win the cash prize.

Following a celebrity series in 2022, ITV/STV bosses have now commissioned another celeb instalment which will air in 2026 in a new weekday slot.

Who hosts Lingo?

Actor Adil Ray hosts the series, with Ru Paul hosting the first celebrity series. It's understood Adil will host the next celebrity series in 2026.

How can I watch it?

Although there's currently no new series of Lingo airing, old episodes are repeated at 3pm every weekday on ITV1/STV1.
