Viewers spot 'mistake' in the final episode of Liar

It was a gripping episode

The final episode of ITV's hit drama Liar hit TV screens last night, leaving viewers completely gripped as to whether Laura Nielson would be able to prove Andrew Earlham raped her and many other women.

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Despite all of the drama in the final episode, viewers who were gripped to their TV screens thought they'd noticed a mistake by the cast during DI Vanessa Harmon's conversation with Laura Nielson in the car.

Wanting to send Andrew down, Laura asked Vanessa, "What makes you think you can put him away?," with Vanessa replying, "You need to let me worry about Andrew Earlham."

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to take to Twitter to state DI Harmon had called Laura Nielson by her real name Joanne...

Despite a number of fans thinking they'd heard DI Harmon call Laura by her real name, after reviewing the episode it seems actress Shelley Conn did actually say 'Andrew Earlham' during the intense conversation and not 'Joanne' like viewers thought.

Meanwhile the gripping series came to a dramatic end when Laura found Andrew's recordings in his safe house.

After taking the evidence to the police, a man hunt was underway for Andrew, only for the programme to end with Andrew's body in a lake with his throat cut, leading viewers to believe he had been murdered.

Whilst some fans of the show loved the ending, others were left a little underwhelmed...

However the mysterious ending did lead us on nicely to a second series of Liar.

After last night's show ended, it was confirmed by ITV that the show has been renewed for series two, with filming beginning in January 2019.

Series two is set to focus on who murdered Andrew Earlham and will star both Joanne Froggatt (Laura) and Ioan Gruffudd (Andrew).

Liar writers Jack and Harry Williams said, "We always hoped this story would return for its final chapter, and we can’t wait to be reunited with the brilliant Joanne and Ioan."

Liar series two is expected to air on ITV in 2019.
