This year heralds the eighth and final season of the ever popular series of Game of Thrones. And whilst fans are super excited for the next season, due to air in April 2019, there is also much excitement at the cast announcement for the show's prequel.

Joining the already confirmed names of King Kong actress Naomi Watts, and Poldark's Josh Whitehouse, the rest of the cast include some other well-known names. The Chronicles of Narnia star Georgie Henley has been announced along with Humans' Ivanno Jeremiah, stage and film actress, Denise Gough, Crimes of Grindelwald actors Jamie Campbell Bower and Toby Regbo.

The news of the cast has been greeted by much excitement from fans around the world, however many responding to Game of Thrones' tweet really wanted to see the trailer, leaving comments such as, 'PREQUEL!! 😎😮 we need the trailer!', 'Send a b----- raven to get the trailer first' and 'Sweet can't wait but can we get a trailer please'.

Despite no trailer, HBO have revealed some details of show to fans. The prequel will take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and include the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers.

Seven of the children are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, however as teenagers the family becomes fractured.

The Rain Season 2

The first season of The Rain was released in 2018 and has been so successful it's back once again in 2019. The Rain is set six years after a brutal virus carried by the rain wipes out almost all humans in Scandinavia. However, two Danish siblings have survived and emerge from the safety of their bunker to find all remnants of civilisation gone.

Our Planet was filmed over four years, and combines the spectacular photography of Planet Earth with an unprecedented look at the planet's remaining wilderness areas and their animal inhabitants.

ELITE Season 2

ELITE returns for another season in 2019. Following the children at Las Encinas, the best and most exclusive school in Spain, in the first season viewers got to see what happened when three working class kids were admitted to the elite school after their academy was destroyed by an earthquake.

Disenchantment Season 2

From the creator of The Simpsons, Disenchantment returns for a second season. This adult animated comedy fantasy series was super popular earlier this year and returns for Netflix in 2019.

Stranger Things 3

Another popular Netflix series that we can watch is Stranger Things 3.

As yet, a release date for the prequel hasn't been announced, however, according to HBO it is already in the works. Jane Goldman and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin have created the new series with Jane Goldman also serving as the showrunner.
