Debbie McGee has wowed both the judges and viewers at home with her amazing dancing skills on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, but now the 59-year-old has picked up an injury which could prevent her performing this weekend.

Debbie, along with the rest of the remaining contestants, are all set to perform at the prestigious Blackpool Tower Ballroom for the first time in the series this weekend.

But according to reports, Debbie is suffering from severe back pain, with her sister Donna revealing, “She’s twisted a muscle so she’s struggling.

“It’s a real shame. She has been suffering – she had a hot water bottle on her back all week. It’s really been playing up."

Debbie and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice scored 34 points from Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli, when they performed a salsa last Saturday.

Despite the impressive score, the pair couldn't match their previous high score of the maximum 40, which they gained two weeks ago.

According to Debbie's sister Donna, the former magician's assistant has been struggling with injury for a while.

She said, "She’d been suffering, it could have gone either way. You don’t know if the back was going to go – but she doesn’t let it worry her.”

Debbie will be hoping to make a quick recovery in time for Saturday night's show live from Blackpool.

In other Strictly news, This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford and her partner Anton Du Beke left the show last week after finding themselves in the dreaded dance-off with Jonnie Peacock and his partner Oti Mabuse.

After Aston Merrygold's shock departure from the show earlier in the month, former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke remains the favourite to pick up the Glitterball Trophy with her partner Gorka Marquez.

But the likes of Key 103's Gemma Atkinson, Holby City actor Joe McFadden and EastEnders star Davood Ghadami are all hot on her heels.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday and Sunday.
