Taylor Swift has revealed that she is “straight-up enemies” with a rival female pop star.

Discussing a new song called ‘Bad Blood’ off her upcoming album 1989, Taylor revealed it was inspired by a caustic relationship with an unnamed big name singer.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Taylor explained. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

The ‘Shake It Off’ singer continued: “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies’. And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business.

“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

Although Taylor was careful not to name any names, the online world swiftly exploded with speculation about who it could be as soon as the interview was published.

Then, out of the blue, Katy Perry posted a tweet that some have interpreted as a direct response to the story.

Making reference to the jealous, phony and spiteful character in 2004 movie Mean Girls, Katy tweeted:

Unfortunately, neither Katy nor Taylor have since commented on the alleged feud. We’re awaiting the next instalment with baited breath.
