See who makes number one right here
The Top 10 most popular YouTube music videos of the year have been revealed!
Not just based on views, the “top trending” list takes into account various factors including “shares, comments, likes and more”, according to YouTube.
In first spot is Katy’s Perry’s Egyptian themed ‘Dark Horse’ video, which stoked up controversy when it was released in February.
The video was digitally edited after 65,000 people signed a petition calling for the video to be removed, claiming a scene of a doomed man wearing a pendant with the Arabic word for God on it was offensive.
Thanks to their massive global appeal, Enrique Iglesias’ ‘Bailando’ is in second spot while Shikira grabbed third and fourth spot with her Rihanna collaboration ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You’ and ‘La La La’ respectively.
Jason Derulo (‘Wiggle’), Iggy Azalea (‘Fancy’), Sia (‘Chandelier’), Taylor Swift (‘Shake It Off’), Meghan Trainor (‘All About That Bass’) and Nicki Minaj (‘Anaconda’) complete the Top 10.
The most popular YouTube video of the year overall was the infamous Mutant Giant Spider Dog video created by polish prankster SA Wardega.
As well as trending on social media and creating a gargantuan buzz online, the video was viewed a whopping 114million times. Watch the video here:
