Fans of Perrie Edwards have been keen to learn more about the music the Little Mix singer is working on. She's now released her debut solo song 'Forget About Us', followed by her second song 'Tears', and she's started to tease a third song called 'You Go Your Way', so let's take a look at what we know about her solo album.

Perrie has already revealed that she's worked with Ed Sheeran and RAYE on her new music, she's also told us that her son Axel features on her album, both using his heartbeat, and clips of him singing when he was just one. However, while her album might be finished, it doesn't have a name just yet.

How does Perrie describe her album?

Perrie revealed in an Instagram Q&A that she would describe her album as 'fun, energetic' and 'honest'.

She also revealed that she is most looking forward to her fans hearing the ballads on her album.

What has Perrie said about her solo music?

Perrie has teased her new music quite a bit over recent months, especially around her debut solo song, which was released on 12th April, however she's also teased information about her album.

Taking to Instagram in January 2024, Perrie shared a series of photos and told her fans: 'Singing my little heart out… music pending… 🎶'.

The photos show Perrie working on new music in her home studio, with the first photo showing Perrie belting out a tune into a microphone.

After sharing these pics, fans were left very excited with one writing: 'What the world needs is solo music from Perrie Edwards!', with another commenting: 'a picture says a thousand words and that first picture is a belt if i’ve ever seen one can’t WAIT'. (sic)

Since the band started their hiatus after their 'Confetti' tour in 2022, Perrie has been teasing solo music, including one post where she told her fans she was 'cooking'.

Then in November 2023, Perrie updated her fans further, revealing details of her album. Despite not revealing its name, or when it is due out, Perrie shared a video telling her fans: "Get ready as I update you on the album...

"It's finished!" Perrie exclaimed, before adding: "No, I'm joking."

The singer went on to reveal: "I think I'm in a very good place for it right now. It's been an amazing process, I've met so many incredible writers, incredible producers. People I've worked with before, new people... it's just been really fun I've love it. (It's) been a very different process I would say to being in the band."

Perrie, who was part of Little Mix for more than 10 years, admitted that going solo has brought her out of her shell. "I think it kind of has brought me out of my shell a lot," she explained. "Because I used to kind of use them as my comfort blanket in the studio. It's quite intimidating writing with amazing writers and producers in the room, if you have an idea, you're like 'what about this?!' and you feel a bit silly."

She continued: "So I have had to come out of my shell a lot, and I think going into the process, I sat down with my label and I was like look, I don't know if I want to write that much, I don't know I'm a very good writer. I've also been with the girls, so I don't know if I'm that great at it. I don't know!"

Does her son Axel feature on her songs?

Yes, he does! Perrie has told us that Axel sings on one of her songs, but she hasn't said which one. In an interview, she told us that his heartbeat is also used on a song, she said: "There's a song on my album that the beat of the song is my little boy’s like heartbeat, like when we went to the scan."

She continued: "It was so cool, I remember being in that moment and hearing like the (sound) and I thought, no, that's unreal, that could be a song. And then fast forward to like a year and a bit in, and I was like, yeah, I'm going to do it."

In a separate interview with us, she also explained: "He sings and he talks, he’s so cute, I can't wait for everyone to hear it."

Does Perrie write her own songs?

Perrie has collaborated with others on her new songs including Ed Sheeran and RAYE, however, she has also opened up about writing saying: "As the process went on and I started kind of pushing myself a little bit more and more, I realised that I actually love to write music, which was a surprise to me."

She now has her own home studio, which her partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain built for her, and she says it's great having the chance to: "Gain the confidence to write my own music."

Speaking about working with RAYE, she admitted they wrote a "petty song", saying: "I wrote a song with RAYE and and it was like a proper petty song. When you're in a relationship... Like me and my partner, we don't argue, but when we do, I am SO petty, I will not let it go."

She continued: "It could be the simplest thing, I'm like 'No’, like my star sign is Cancer and I'm so stubborn. The thing is, I know I'm doing it, I know I'm being stubborn, but I can't not do it. So I'm like, no, I will hold a grudge. So we wrote a song about that."

What is Perrie Edwards' solo album called?

It is not yet known for Perrie's album will be called. She told us in an interview: "I kind of have something that I like, that a fan came up with, and I'm like, OK! They all know I'm useless at this kind of thing.

"So they've been like doing lists and options, and like Powerpoint presentations of what I could call it. Which is really sweet of them, and they've really helped me out, because I really like one of the names."

When is Perrie's album out?

Perrie has not yet released details of when the album will be released, however, she has said previously, in an interview with Grazia: "My label (Columbia Records) have told me to just go with the flow and enjoy discovering what my sound is going to be. The fact there's no deadline in my life just makes me the happiest person. I feel so lucky to just be having fun."

She later told us that it would be out this year (2024), she told us: "Definitely this year because it's ready and I couldn't have it for any longer," she revealed.

"Like if they say not this year, I'll just leak it myself because I'm desperate for everyone to hear it, so hopefully towards the end of the year."

Has Perrie finished her album?
