Paloma Faith Ends Eurovision Song Contest Speculation

She calls the rumours "insane"

Paloma Faith has rubbished rumours that she’s lined up to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest this May.

The UK hasn’t won the singing competition since Katrina & The Waves triumphed in 1997 and it seems like Paloma doesn’t want to be the latest in a long list of failures.

Taking to Twitter last night, Paloma wrote: “Of course I'm not doing Eurovision are you all insane?!”

She added: “To the Eurovision fans: I have NO desire2compete within my art form. The idea of competition scares the shit out of me&is not why I do this.”

In the past 11 years, the UK has come last three times in the competition - Josh Dubovie in 2010, Andy Abraham in 2008 and Jemini in 2003 who infamously scored nul points.

Music icons Engelbert Humperdinck and Bonnie Tyler both failed to make an impact in the last two years coming 25th and 19th respectively.

Preceded by the single ‘Can’t Rely On You’, Paloma Faith’s third studio album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ is released on 10th March 2014.
