One Direction's 'Midnight Memories' Is Biggest Selling Album of 2013

The boys take the title in just five weeks

One Direction’s mega third album ‘Midnight Memories’ has been named the biggest selling album of 2013 in the UK!

!Zayn, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall’s record sold a phenomenal 685,000 copies in just five weeks at the end of last year to claim the biggest seller title.

“This tops an amazing year for us!” Liam Payne told OfficialCharts.com.“We're so excited to have the biggest selling album in the UK this year, especially with a record we are all so proud of.

“We'd like to thank everyone who has bought the album, it really means a lot to us.”

Emeli Sandé’s ‘Our Version of Events’ had led the way for most of 2013 but eventually 1D surged past beating her 683,000 tally by 2,000 copies.

Already the biggest selling album of 2012, ‘Our Version Of Events’ has now shifted a mightily impressive 2.07 million copies in the UK.

Canadian crooner Michael Buble is the only non-British star inside the Top 10 after selling 631,000 copies of his latest effort ‘To Be Loved’.

Also a firm favourite in the run-up to Christmas, Robbie Williams’ ‘Swings Both Ways’ is at four (626,000 sales) and Olly Murs’ ‘Right Place Right Time’ completes the top five having sold 623,000 units last year and 1.19million since its release in November 2012.
