Jax Jones joined The Hits UK Chart with Sam Thompson on Sunday (9th July) to talk about his brand new song 'Me and My Guitar'. The DJ, who also sang on his new song, revealed how the song came about and how he ended up working with Fireboy DML.

Jax is known of his hits 'Where Did You Go?' with MNEK, 'Ring Ring with Mabel, and 'Whistle' with Calum Scott, but while he normally just writes and produces his songs, this time he has also sung on it!

The dad-of-two explained why it was important for him to sing this song: "It's a very personal song," he said.

"It's about my journey as a young musician trying to come up in a game with dreams, and literally at the time, that guitar was how I was paying my bills. But literally my very first job was playing the guitar for N Dubz all those years ago. It was literally me and my guitar, keeping me out of overdraft."

The music video also reflects this. Directed by KC Locke, who has worked with Ed Sheeran and David Guetta, it features a young Jax and Fireboy sitting on a council estate roof in London, before launching a paper plane into the air.

When Sam asked if it was like a musical autobiography, Jax agreed saying: "Yeah, for sure is like. I felt like there's a lot of dance music at the moment, I think about records like from the late Avicii, like 'Wake Me Up', and lyrically how much that meant to people. A really seminal record like just lyrically, give a piece of myself away to my fans."

Jax then went on to open up about the remix of Kylie Minogue's 'Padam Padam' that he released recently.

"Kylie's team reached out," Jax explained, going on to say: "I love the song, I'm gassed that they hollered at me. Hard house is just having a moment right now."

Jax Jones joined Sam Thompson on The Hits UK Chart on Sunday 9th July.
