Following the release of his fifth studio album 'Bitter Sweet Love', James Arthur joined us to talk about his new album, and reveal the significance of the number 23.

As many fans will know, James' social handles include the number 23, in one of his posts he can also be seen wearing a hoodie with the number 23 on it.

What is the significance of 23 for James Arthur?

In an interview with us, James explained the reason behind his love for the number, and it might come as a surprise after he previously said 13 (Taylor Swift's lucky number) was becoming his lucky number back in 2018.

James told us: "Everyone's got a lucky number, haven't they? I think it's been a thing for me since I was young. It's been like it's something I've seen everywhere. I used to do a bit of gambling when I was younger and that number was always quite fruitful for me.

"It's in a lot of my life like my date of birth (2/3/88) and in my National Insurance number... It just shows up everywhere. Ohh it's just yeah, it's a weird one, and it's been quite lucky."

With 23 being his lucky number, we then asked him what 2023 was like for him as a year, and he said it was great, explaining: "It was a great year. It was the first year of my daughter's life, so I suppose it was significant in that."

During the interview, James also told us that is song 'A Year Ago' is a great song for soothing his little girl Emily. He told us: "There's one song of mine in particular that settles her when she's upset, which is the first song from this album 'A Year Ago', for some reason, she likes that one."
