Ed Sheeran’s incredible new record ‘X’ is officially the fastest selling album of 2014 so far!

The album, pronounced “multiply”, sold a phenomenal 182,000 copies in a week to storm to the number one spot yesterday.

That mightily impressive tally is a cool 14,000 more than the previous fastest seller, Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories’, sold last month.

Ed told his 9.74million Twitter followers last night: “182k sold in the UK week one making it the fastest selling album of the year. I'm on cloud 9 and keep laughing at everything. love you all x”

Despite its first week sales, ‘X’ still has a long way to go to surpass the 1.8million UK sales of Ed’s debut ‘+’.

As well as breaking records, Ed wowed The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury yesterday afternoon in front of tens of thousands of fans.
