Ed Sheeran’s incredible second record ‘x’ has spent its eighth consecutive week at the album chart top spot.

The flame-haired singer is now one of only four artists to hold the number one position for eight weeks or longer this Millennium – joining The Beatles’ ‘1’, Adele’s ‘21’ and James Blunt’s ‘Back To Bedlam’.

Along with James Blunt’s record it’s also the joint longest chart-topper by a male solo artist in UK chart history.

Ed said: “I'm thrilled that x has made it to #1 for 8 weeks in a row! I'm really proud of the album and it's such an honour to told one of the longest-running albums at #1 this millennium alongside the likes of The Beatles and Adele.

“I'm really looking forward to touring the album and hope to see you all at the autumn UK dates.”

Containing the huge smash singles ‘Don’t’ and ‘Sing’, ‘x’ (pronounced “multiply”) has hit number on in 12 countries including the United States where it sold 210,000 copies in its first week.

Ed plays an extensive UK & Ireland tour this coming October. To check ticket availability head to Aloud.com now.
