Ed Sheeran Debuts New Song 'I See Fire' From The Hobbit
The track appears in the second movie's closing credits
Flame-haired pop troubadour Ed Sheeran has debuted his first new song in over two years – ‘I See Fire’.
Lifted from the upcoming cinema epic The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, ‘I See Fire’ is a stripped back acoustic number packed with lyrics referencing the adventures in Middle Earth.
Announcing the new song on Twitter, Ed told his followers that ‘I See Fire’ is a standalone song and won’t feature on his second studio album.
“I’m very happy to announce I have written and recorded the end credits song for the new Hobbit movie The Desolation of Smaug," he wrote.
“I got the chance to produce and play all the instruments on it apart from the cello. Managed to learn violin for a day, hope you all dig it
“Big up Peter Jackson and his team for giving me the opportunity. It's also the first solo song I've released in over 2 years, it's not on the new album though, that fun starts next year.”
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug his UK cinema screens on Friday 13th December.
