Beyonce Cries At Final Mrs Carter Show Tour Date
Emotion gets the better of Queen Bey in Portugal
An emotional Beyoncé broke down in tears on the final date of her sprawling Mrs Carter Show World Tour in Portugal last night (27th March).
The gargantuan tour has taken in 132 shows across four continents and is one of the highest grossing tours of all time. The first 108 shows in 2013 alone raked in a phenomenal $183million (£110million).
Caught up in the emotion of the occasion of the tour finally ending, Beyoncé was in floods of tears at the Lisbon MEO Arena as she thanked the cheering Portuguese fans.
After performing the penultimate song ‘XO’, Bey told the 20,000 strong crowd: “If you all don't know, tonight makes 132 shows. Tonight is the last show of The Mrs Carter Show Tour. We started a year ago and I want to say this has been such a journey.
"In the past year, we've been through so much together. The Super Bowl, shooting the videos, all of these shows. When I first started the tour my baby was not even walking yet.”
She added: "I just want you to know that I am so lucky. I'm giving y'all an ugly cry. Thank y'all again. When I fall, you lift me up. When I'm hungry, you feed me. I just want to give you my light. I dedicate this song to you guys."
Beyoncé then launched into her traditional set closer ‘Halo’ and the arena erupted in rapture.
