Adele shares empowering speech after picking up BRIT Award
Her second award of the night
Last updated 8th Feb 2022
It's been six years since we last witnessed Adele at The BRIT Awards with Mastercard, so it's safe to say we were absolutely buzzing with excitement for her arrival at the 2022 ceremony, where she debuted a very fancy looking ring on her wedding finger.
As well as performing on the night, Adele, who made her comeback to music with her fourth album '30' last year, was also nominated for FOUR awards, in the categories Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop/R&B Act and Song of the Year.
After picking up Song of the Year earlier in the night, Adele was later crowned Artist of the Year, where she gave an empowering speech.
She said: "Thank you so much, I've never got changed so fast in my life, I've put a short dress on now so I didn't trip. This is amazing thank you, I actually really wasn't expecting this one at all, I want to say a massive congratulations for Little Simz, I've got so much love for you. Dave, Ed, Sam I'm so proud to be in your company. I love being an artist, I really do and I genuinely can't believe that it's my job.
"Real artistry, and I know I've spoken about it before, there's so many new artists here, England, the UK, we have so many incredible, new, young artists coming up and never lose sight of why you are who you are, the reason people are into you is because of something you've got inside of you, don't ever let go of that ever.
"I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I really love being a woman and a female artist, I do, I'm really proud of us."
Earlier in the show Adele took to the stage to show off her incredible vocal range, performing her track 'I Drink Wine' in a stunning gold dress.
Adele later picked up her third award of the night, out of the four that she was nominated for, this time for Album of the Year for her incredible studio album '30'.
Thanking her son and her ex husband Simon in her speech, she said: "Thank you very much, thank you again for the company I'm in, I've thanked everyone I work with, the labels and stuff, but I'd like to dedicate this award to my son. And to Simon, to his dad, this album was all of our journey, not just mine. I'm very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album about something that was so personal to me because not many people do that anymore. My son has been so gracious, and kind and patient over the last couple of. years and it's for him.
"I don't know if it was mentioned earlier as I had to get ready for my song, someone who was absolutely integral is producer of the year this year, his name Inflo, He works with Little Simz a lot and he really changed my life, not just with my music but he really helped me in so many ways, Flo I love you, this is for you as well. Thank you very much, goodnight."

As well as her AMAZING performance, Adele got fans talking earlier on in the evening when she flaunted a huge diamond on her wedding finger, leaving fans convinced she is engaged to her boyfriend Rich Paul.
Following months of speculation that Adele was set to make a comeback to music, the superstar delighted music fans across the globe in October 2021, releasing her comeback single 'Easy On Me'.
Then, after an ITV and Oprah special, Adele dropped her album '30' in November, breaking records across the world.
Fans were hyped when the 'Rolling In The Deep' singer announced a weekend residency in Las Vegas, but things took a disappointing turn at the start of 2021, when Adele was forced to postpone the show due to it just 'not being ready'.
In an extremely emotional video, Adele told fans: “I'm so sorry, but my show ain't ready. Half my team have Covid and it's been impossible to finish the show.
"It's been impossible to finish the show. I can't give you what I have right now and I'm gutted."
Following the postponement, fans were then over the moon to learn she would be flying back to the UK to perform at The BRIT Awards, and it was certainly VERY special.
