Zara Larsson announced for lead role in upcoming Netflix film

Swedish popstar, Zara Larsson who has a new song 'End of Time' due to drop this week, has been announced in a lead role for upcoming Netflix film A Part of You.

The role will see Zara in her acting debut as Julia, who is Agnes' older sister. Agnes (played by Felicia Maxime) strives to be like her older sister, who has everything. Julia is 'the coolest person in school, the centre of every party, and she’s dating Noel' according to Netflix.

However when something major happens, Agnes' world is turned upside down and she has to reinvent herself. Agnes is close to getting everything she's ever wanted now, but at what cost?

Zara announced her involvement in the film on Instagram sharing a couple of photos and telling her fans: 'A Part Of You, will be yours at @netflixnordic next year! @sfstudios.se @siggeeklund @mjhamilton 🤩🤩'.

Making his feature film director debut, Sigge Eklund said of the film: "I’ve been waiting my whole life for a screenplay that captures the horror and the magic of being a teenager. When I read Michaela Hamilton’s story I was blown away by the fact that it was all in there. The desperation and the beauty and that sense of urgency that you can only feel when you are 17."

The film's scripwriter Michaela Hamilton also opened up about the inspiration behind the story, explaining: "This story is deeply personal to me, as I lost my 19-year-old brother in an accident seven years ago.

"I felt compelled to write about both sides of loss - the immense pain of it, but also the love and hope that can emerge in the process. I’m honoured to have this fantastic team bringing this script to life, and to be able to share it with a global audience on Netflix is truly a dream come true."

The song became her second Number 1 single and was certified 4× Platinum in Sweden. The song reached the top five in 18 countries and got certified Platinum in 16 countries.
It was released in the summer of 2015. It became one of the big tracks of the summer, with its catchy lyrics and upbeat pop beat. It got Zara recognised internationally as one to watch in the music business, as it topped the charts in 24 countries.

2015: Releases MNEK collaboration 'Never Forget You'

Only one month later, Zara released what would be her second international hit track, 'Never Forget You'. She broke the worldwide market with 'Never Forget You' as the song reached Number 1 in Sweden, Number 3 in Australia, and Number 5 in the United Kingdom. Also, the song was certified Platinum in Sweden after two weeks.
